Mud crab is an economically important species of crab found in most regions of the world. The shell colour of mud crab varies from a deep, mottled green to dark brown. Mud crab farming is considered as an important secondary crop in the prawn (shrimp) or fish culture systems. Generally, Scylla serrata type has very good market demand and farmers can expect good profits when compared to other species of crab.
